PRP Facial Treatment in Marbella
A PRP facial is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that delivers platelet-rich plasma, prepared from a small sample of your own blood, into the skin of the face using microneedling or fine injections. At CellOrtho in Marbella it is performed by a licensed medical doctor, takes around 30 to 45 minutes and requires minimal downtime. Results vary between individuals and suitability is confirmed at a free video consultation.

What is a PRP facial treatment?
A PRP facial is a non-surgical facial treatment in which platelet-rich plasma made from a small sample of your own blood is delivered into the skin of the face. Nothing synthetic is injected, and no surgery is involved.
PRP has been used in aesthetic and regenerative medicine for a number of years and is supported by clinical evidence in the context of skin quality and collagen induction therapy. It is designed to support the skin's own repair processes. Results vary between individuals.
At CellOrtho in Marbella, every PRP facial is performed by a licensed medical doctor, using the same plasma preparation standards as our orthopaedic PRP work.
What is the difference between a PRP facial and a vampire facial?
"Vampire Facial" is a registered trademark of a specific branded protocol developed by Dr Charles Runels. The name is licensed to providers who have completed the associated certification and follow that particular protocol.
The underlying treatment in both cases is platelet-rich plasma: a preparation derived from the patient's own blood and applied to the facial skin. The general concept, the biological starting material and the intended target, skin quality and texture, are therefore similar.
CellOrtho offers PRP facial treatment. We are not a licensed Vampire Facial provider. Our doctors use their own medical assessment and preparation protocol, and individual suitability and expected outcomes are discussed during your free video consultation.
How does PRP work for skin rejuvenation?
PRP works by concentrating the platelets and growth factors already present in your blood and placing them into the upper layers of the skin. Growth factors are naturally occurring signalling proteins involved in tissue repair and local blood supply.
PRP microneedling in Marbella is usually delivered with a fine-needle device that creates controlled micro-channels in the skin. This delivery route is what makes the approach a form of collagen induction therapy, and the plasma is applied into those channels during the same session.
The underlying mechanism is identical to the one used in our orthopaedic work, explained in detail on our PRP therapy page. The difference for the face is the depth, the delivery device and the volume applied per area.
Read how PRP therapy worksWhat areas of the face can be treated with PRP?
PRP for the face is most often applied across the full face, and the same approach can be extended to the neck, décolletage and the backs of the hands during the same visit.
PRP under the eyes is a frequent request, since the skin in that area is thin and is not always well suited to other approaches. Areas around the cheeks, forehead and around the mouth are also commonly discussed.
The exact areas treated are agreed with your doctor at your assessment, based on your skin and what you would like to address.
Who is a suitable candidate for PRP facial treatment?
The most suitable candidates are adults in general good health looking for a non-surgical facial treatment for skin texture, fine lines or dull-looking skin, and who prefer an approach that uses their own blood rather than an injected filler material.
PRP may not be appropriate for patients with certain blood disorders, active skin infections, an active acne flare in the treatment area, or those taking specific medications. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also discussed at assessment.
Suitability is always determined in a medical consultation, never by the treatment itself.
How many PRP facial sessions are needed?
A course of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is the protocol typically recommended for the face, followed by maintenance sessions at intervals agreed with your doctor.
The number of sessions depends on your skin, the areas treated and how your skin responds after the first treatment. Any change develops gradually over months rather than weeks, and results vary between individuals.
Does a PRP facial hurt?
Most patients describe a PRP facial as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful, with a light prickling or scratching sensation during the microneedling phase.
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area beforehand to reduce sensation, and no general anaesthetic is used. The treatment phase itself lasts only a few minutes per area, and tenderness typically settles within a day.
What happens during a PRP facial appointment?
A PRP facial appointment takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes from arrival to leaving the clinic. It begins with a short review of your skin and your goals with the treating doctor.
A small blood sample is then taken from your arm and placed in a centrifuge, which separates and concentrates the platelets. Topical anaesthetic is applied while the plasma is prepared, and the plasma is then delivered into the skin using microneedling or very fine injections.
You can drive yourself home immediately afterwards and return to your normal routine, following simple aftercare guidance for the first 48 hours.
How much does a PRP facial cost in Marbella?
A single PRP facial session at CellOrtho costs €400, and a course of three sessions costs €1,000. Both include the clinical assessment on the day of treatment.
The video consultation beforehand is free, and there are no consultation fees, facility fees or hidden extras. Full pricing is set out in the section below and on our prices page.
What is the difference between PRP and dermal fillers?
The core difference is that dermal fillers add volume by placing a gel material into a specific area, while a PRP facial adds no volume at all and instead delivers your own plasma into the skin.
Fillers produce an immediate change in contour that gradually fades as the material breaks down and is generally repeated to maintain it. A PRP facial works gradually over weeks and is directed at skin quality and texture rather than shape. The comparison table below sets out the practical differences.
How long is the recovery after a PRP facial?
Recovery after a PRP facial is short, and most patients return to normal activity the same day.
Redness comparable to mild sunburn, slight swelling or pinpoint marks for 24 to 48 hours is normal. We advise avoiding make-up for the first 24 hours, and sun exposure, saunas, swimming pools and intense exercise for the first two days. Your doctor will provide individual aftercare guidance.

How a PRP facial compares with other facial treatments
The table below compares a PRP facial with dermal fillers and standard microneedling. Costs are typical market ranges in Spain and are indicative only.
| Option | What it uses | How it works | Invasiveness | Downtime | Typical cost range | Suitability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PRP facial | Platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood | Plasma delivered into the skin by microneedling or fine injections, designed to support the skin's own repair processes | Non-surgical, fine needles with topical anaesthetic | Minimal, redness for 24 to 48 hours | €400 per session, €1,000 for 3 sessions | Skin texture, fine lines and dull-looking skin, where no added volume is wanted |
| Dermal fillers | An injected gel material, usually hyaluronic acid | Adds volume to a specific area for an immediate change in contour | Non-surgical injections of a synthetic or semi-synthetic material | Usually 1 to 3 days of possible swelling or bruising | Commonly €300 to €700 per syringe, repeated periodically | Volume loss and contour concerns rather than skin quality |
| Standard microneedling | Needling device alone, sometimes with a topical serum | Creates controlled micro-channels intended to stimulate the skin's collagen response | Non-surgical, fine needles with topical anaesthetic | Minimal, redness for 24 to 48 hours | Roughly €150 to €300 per session | General skin texture, usually as a course of sessions |
Costs from other providers are indicative market ranges, not CellOrtho prices. Suitability for any option is individual and must be assessed by a doctor.
